Looking forward . . .

Ok, so I've complained a lot in my past couple of posts. Which is OK since 1) this is my blog and I'll rant if I want to, and 2) I don't often complain outside my blog. Usually. Unless it's to my BFF or my DH (dearest hubby). I feel bad that they have to deal with me on a regular basis. haha

So, I'm looking forward! And here's what lies ahead for me:

DH and I are taking our little family to Disneyland in a couple of weeks. YAHOO! We've never been together, or with our kids, so this will be a fun trip. We did the Disney "Give a Day, Get a Day" and so Tony, son and I get in free! Tony will have a full 10 days off work, so we're basically going to go to California and decide what we want to do once we get there. We're not going to be in any rush whatsoever. Especially knowing that this will likely be our family vacation for the year and we want to make the best of it. Tony and I are really excited! I'm pretty sure our 6 y/o has no idea what he's in for. And our 3 y/o daughter? Oh my, she's going to F.L.I.P. when she sees "Lella" (Cinderella)! I love my family, and I love when we're out having fun together.

Tony and I were talking and figured that in the 6 years that we've been together, we really haven't accomplished much, other than adding a couple of seriously cute daughters to our mix. We thought buying a house was a good idea, but turns out that was the dumbest idea ever.

So I've decided to go back to school! Actually, the hubs and I both are! Hubby wants to make more $$, and going back to school logically makes a lot of sense. He's got some serious brains brewing up in that head of his and it's time to put them to good use! Neither of us are certain what we want to major in, but at least we're headed in the right direction. We've applied for financial aid and all that jazz. Super excited. :)

I have no idea what I want to major in. I haven't been to college since who knows when, definitely before my son was born. I was majoring in accounting back in the day, but now I'm uncertain about what I really want. Having little kids, especially Alex, who's a super tremendous smarty student, has made me wish I had more of an education background, but I really want to get a degree in something that will help me make money if I need to go back to work for some reason, or when the time comes when all of my kids are in school and I chose to work while they're in class to save up for missions or college for them. I don't know. I'm going to talk to a guidance counselor & get some advice about all this junk. But either way, I'm really looking forward to going back.

But I'm nervous.

You see, when I was pregnant with my son, I developed toxemia. BAD. So bad that they had to induce me early to take him, and then I had several eclamptic seizures which left me in a coma for about 4 days. The doctors didn't expect me to live, but Heavenly Father had other plans for me. The seizures not only seriously jacked up my back, but messed with my brain too. I stuttered for about 3 months afterwards and my brain still malfunctions on a regular basis. It's SO frustrating, knowing how quick and smart I was before the pregnancy, compared to now. But I know that if I take my education just a course or two at a time, I'll do just fine. I just can't expect my brain to work the way that it used to. I need to come to terms with the way I function now and go about doing my best. Good plan.

So that's what my future holds. I'm lovin' it! :)

I think this is a fantastic idea for you. I want to go back to school too and I am excited that you are taking the time to do it. I know you said you were interested in the educational but were concerned about finding something that will pay well, if you need the job. My first thought was go for it. If you go the education route then you can start substituting once your kids start school and you know you will be home in time for them. Plus, with the whole substitute route, you can have a more flexable schedule so that if, in later years you want to work, it doesn't HAVE TO be full time or nothing. That was my first thought any ways. Good luck, both of you!!
